Hasn’t it been a while?
The answer is yes.
I’ve taken a break from blogging about family discipleship for the past little while to, well, spend time with my family!
With that in mind, I’d love to share with you some of the things I have been loving over the past few months:
BOOKS ON FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP
- Woven by Meredith Anne Miller: Wow! I loved this book. It was easy to read, and so full of practical tidbits on creating a faith for our kids that is authentic, age-appropriate in every stage, and grows with them.
- Parenting as a Church Leader by Rachel Turner: I saw my friend, Joy Wendling, recommend this book in a group I’m part of. I downloaded it & devoured it on my Kindle. I know many of you who follow along here are pastors & leaders, and this is a book you need to read!
- Parenting: Getting It Right by Andy & Sandra Stanley: After hearing them interview on a podcast, I realized I really wanted to read this book. It was SO good! Their hindsight and wisdom on raising kids that love their family & love Jesus is unmatched.
- The Storm-Tossed Family by Russell Moore: I didn’t expect to love this book as much – but it was compelling, deep and beautiful! It’s a great read, especially if your family is going through a tricky season.
TOOLS FOR DISCIPLESHIP:
- Mr. Phil Show: I don’t think it’s possible to say enough good things about these episodes! My kids love them, and they have learned so much about theology, the Bible and history through them. When we were driving recently, my son informed me about who Augustine is! It’s been a great addition to our routine – plus, if your church subscribes to Rightnow Media, you can access the episodes easily!
- Gospel Conversations for Kids Card Set: We had a lot of fun with these cards at the supper table – our oldest (now 6!) was able to help with reading some of the cards. They made for great conversation starters!
- There is so much music that we use in our daily discipleship journey! We keep returning to the Rend Co. Kids album, the Listener Kids YouTube channel, and the new City Alight album.
